How To Effectively Strap Your Ankle

Keep rolling your ankle during sport?

Need to strap your ankle for footy/rugby?

Here is a taping technique to minimise the risk of a lateral ankle sprain for whatever sport you’re playing this year:

Method

1. Anchor – wrap the tape around your lower calf to provide an anchor point for the rest of the tape

2. 3 x Stirrups – starting on the inside of your leg at the anchor point. Run the tape down under your heel and onto the outside of your anchor point 3 times.

3. 2 x 6’s – starting on the inside of your ankle. Run the tape down under your heel and then going across the front of the ankle in a figure 6 movement and repeat 2 times.

4. Heel-locks (figure 8) – Start in the middle of your anchor point on a 45 degree angle. Run the tape around your achilles, under your heel then back up to where you started and repeat in the other direction

5. Anchor – repeat another anchor over where your first anchor was to ensure the tape won’t come off.
