We see a lot of people in clinic for knee pain, and most of them note that climbing or descending stairs are one of the key movements that irritate their symptoms.

When we assess people’s gait (aka, the way they walk) up and down stairs, we often see a very high load placed across their knees.

So we regularly recommend this one simple activity modification to help people manage the pain they get on stairs.
